Elizabeth Massie, former middle school and elementary teacher (with 19 years of classroom experience) and award-winning author of adult, young adult, middle-grade, and juvenile fiction, is available to present creative writing workshops for interested schools and organizations. Depending on time available, topics for sessions can include:
These workshops, which are also appropriate for adults as well as for non-school groups with an interest in writing, are fun and high-energy leveled, intended to excite participants about and involve them in their own innate abilities to imagine and create works of fiction. Elizabeth Massie has presented programs for elementary, middle, and high schools in the Virginia counties of Alexandria, Albemarle, Augusta, Henrico, Loudoun, Louisa, Rockingham, and Prince William, and the Mid-Atlantic cities of Baltimore, Bedford, Charlottesville, Greensboro, Harrisonburg, Lexington, Newport News, Reston, Richmond, Roanoke, Staunton, and Waynesboro. She has given workshops and programs at state-wide education conferences, numerous public libraries around the state, the Shenandoah Valley Reading Council, the Virginia Association of Teachers of English, the Virginia State Reading Association, the Central Virginia Writing Project at the University of Virginia, North Carolina A & T State University, the Virginia Festival of the Book, and civic organizations including Rotary, Kiwannis, and Ruritan Clubs.
